suicide-squad

While our review of ‘Suicide Squad‘ was positive, there have been a lot of negative ones out there so it shouldn’t be too surprising that stars Jay Hernandez and Cara Delevingne are digging right back into the critics. These aren’t the only two involved in the film to speak up about the negative publicity that the movie is getting as director David Ayer has also spoken out against the reviews they are receiving.

Hernandez plays Diablo in the movie and his fiery temperament didn’t seem to follow him off the big screen and into a recent interview where he says:

“You know we honestly made it for the hardcore DC fans and I just hope that they enjoy the movie. I can’t wait till August 5th until everyone can see it. I know a lot of people are going to the midnight showing, so (heart shape) much love. I think we did it, so I think critics could kiss my ass (laughter).”

Clearly, he doesn’t love the early feedback and while not all of the critics are DC or comic fans, many who have given negative reviews have been. I’m sure that he’ll appreciate that not all of the reviews though have been negative.

In the film, Delevingne is playing Enchantress and has not been a fan of the critics at all. In a recent interview she stated that:

“The critics have been absolutely horrific, they’re really, really horrible. You know, I just don’t think they like superhero movies.”

While this might be the case for some, we all know that many pro-genre outlets have been sharing this opinion so it really does seem to be a case by case basis. Though you have to admit, DC’s franchise has suffered a much harsher start than Marvel’s has had so far.

‘Suicide Squad’ directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Jay Hernandez, Scott Eastwood and Karen Fukahara with Ben Affleck hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
