Laverne-Cox-Rocky-Horror

Laverne Cox will get you shivering with antici…  pation in this new clip for FOX’s presentation of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ due to air this October.  This newest trailer, set to– what else– ‘The Time Warp’ also highlights the thing that has made the first ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ movie an enduring classic, namely audience participation.

For decades, fans have turned midnight screenings of the original film, not to mention live stage productions, a true party.  Fans shout back in unison at certain lines of dialogue, and fling various items, including certain foods, into the air and at the screen.  (Check back closer to the airing of FOX’s version for a full list of these actions.)

The clip also gives an extended look at FOX’s lavish production which seems to draw heavily from subsequent stage versions based on the movie (which actually was itself based on a stage production).

Check out the clip below:

The clip only announces that this production will air around Halloween.  It may actually air ON Halloween, which would be fitting, but we’ll have to wait a bit for an official air date.

The new presentation is directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega (‘High School Musical’ 1, 2 & 3, ‘Hocus Pocus’).

‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ stars Laverne Cox as Frank-N-Furter, Victoria Justice as Janet, Ryan McCartan as Brad, Adam Lambert as Eddie, Reeve Carney as Riff Raff, Annaleigh Ashford as Columbia, Christina Milian as Magenta, Ben Vereen as Doctor Everett von Scott, Staz Nair as Rocky Horror, and original Frank-N-Furter Tim Curry as the Criminologist Narrator.

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, a brand-new reimagining of the cult-classic midnight movie 40 years in the making, is set to air October 2016. Sweethearts JANET (Victoria Justice, “Victorious”) and BRAD (Ryan McCartan, “Liv & Maddie,” “Heathers the Musical”) stumble upon flirtatious mad scientist DR. FRANK-N-FURTER’s (Emmy Award-nominated actress Laverne Cox, “Orange is the New Black”) bizarre abode during his annual Transylvanian science convention. The two-hour event also features Emmy Award nominee Tim Curry, the original Frank-N-Furter.
