Spider-Man super fan, Donald Glover, is reported to be in talks to join the cast of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’!  This should delight fans, who lobbied hard for the actor to land the role of Peter Parker in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ before Andrew Garfield won the part.  (Glover should probably consider himself lucky!)

As a consolation, Glover did provide the voice of alternate Spidey, Miles Morales on the animated ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ series.  It is unknown what role Glover will play in the film, but clearly it won’t be Parker, as that role belongs to Tom Holland, and after his cameo in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, Holland seems to have won the stamp of approval from fans.

Glover hasn’t officially been cast, but here’s hoping!  Also still in negotiations is Michael Keaton, who, should he land the role, will play the movie’s villain.  Already on board are Holland, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, plus Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Michael Barbieri, Tony Revolori and the recently cast Kenneth Choi who will be playing the principal at Peter’s school.  Choi previously appeared in the Marvel Universe as Jim Morita in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and later reprised the role on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’  The new film is directed by Jon Watts and will be set within the established Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Glover had a small scene-stealing role in last year’s mega hit ‘The Martian’ and in last’s year’s mega flop ‘Magic Mike XXL’.  But he may be best remembered for the long-running NBC sitcom ‘Community’.  He also voices Marshall Lee, the gender-swapped version of Marceline on ‘Adventure Time’ and moonlights as the Grammy Award-nominated rapper Childish Gambino.

Now the question becomes, who will Glover be playing?  Will it be a costumed character, either a hero or villain?  Or will he take on a civilian role, perhaps a teacher or something?

Who do you think Glover should portray in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’?

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.
