Batman v Superman

Way back before ‘Batman V Superman’ had even opened (and underperformed) in theaters, Warner Brothers had already announced plans to release the film on Blu-ray in an R-rated ‘Ultimate Edition’.  (This announcement came, not coincidentally, almost immediately after the R-rated ‘Deadpool’ came out and assassinated all expectations.)

Well, it’s almost here!  ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – Ultimate Edition’ will be available on Digital HD on June 28th, 2016 and Blu-ray on July 19th, 2016.  To hype the release, a new trailer has been released which includes new footage and dialogue included the M.I.A. Jena Malone, whose role in the movie was cut out but is still a mystery.

More on that in a second.  First, check out the trailer for yourself:

batman-v-superman-blu-ray-ultimate-editionMalone tweeted a photo of herself with freshly dyed red hair when she was cast in the film, causing most to speculate that she was playing either Carrie Kelly, the Robin from ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ or Barbara Gordon, also known as Batgirl and Oracle.

But as you can see, in the movie, she’s sporting a blunt blonde bob wig and she is shown speaking to Lois Lane (Amy Adams), saying “That’s what makes you such a good reporter.   Stuff like this still shocks you.”

Of course, she could still be one of the previously mentioned characters in disguise.  Who knows?  Guess we’ll have to watch the ‘Ultimate Edition’ to find out.

This cut of the film will be 30 minutes longer than the already long-as-F theatrical cut and as was already known, will be a bit more violent and intense.

But as shown with the new footage, there are some additional story elements, so hopefully that will smooth out the rocky storyline a bit.  Snyder’s director’s cut of ‘Watchmen’ is widely considered superior to the theatrical version.

Of course, the BluRay will include a bevy of bonus features:

  • Uniting the World’s Finest
  • Gods and Men: A Meeting of Giants
  • The Warrior, The Myth, The Wonder
  • Accelerating Design: The New Batmobile
  • Superman: Complexity & Truth
  • Batman: Austerity & Rage
  • Wonder Woman: Grace & Power
  • Batcave: Legacy of the Lair
  • The Might and the Power of a Punch
  • The Empire of Luthor
  • Save the Bats

Are you excited to discover what was not shown in theaters?  Will you be adding this to your library?
