Batman with a gun

‘Batman V Superman’ may have divided audiences, but it’s making bank and even among the harshest critics, Ben Affleck‘s portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman has generally gotten positive reaction.  This is good because Affleck’s Batman will anchor ‘Justice League – Part One’ effectively launching Warner Brothers’ DC Expanded Universe.  And while it hasn’t been confirmed, there may be even more Batfleck in the works.

One of Affleck’s agents from William Morris Endeavors, Patrick Whitesell, stated:

“He’s contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape. There’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option.”

It was already rumored that Affleck, who has received acclaim for his recent directorial efforts including ‘Gone Baby Gone’, ‘The Town’ and ‘Argo’– the latter of which won the Academy Award for Best Movie of the Year in 2013– was going to helm a stand-alone Batman movie, even though Warner Brothers doesn’t currently have one on their schedule.  And it was reported that Affleck re-wrote parts of ‘Batman V Superman’ so he clearly has some ideas of how he wants to depict the character.

There have been plenty of rumors regarding a Batman solo movie, even without one being confirmed.  One rumor is that the movie would adapt the ‘Death In the Family’ and ‘Under the Red Hood’ storylines, which would make sense considering certain events in ‘Batman V Superman’.  There is also a rumor that Will Smith‘s Deadshot from ‘Suicide Squad’ would factor in heavily.  And we already know Affleck’s Batman will appear in ‘Suicide Squad’ in some capacity.

Keep in mind, we still haven’t seen all of ‘Batman V Superman’.  Although the movie is already a super human two and a half hours long, an even longer cut is coming and promises to include Jena Malone‘s mystery character who was cut out of the theatrical version.  It’s rumored that Malone will either play Carrie Kelly or Barbara Gordon.  Either way, her role is practically guaranteed to heavily impact Batman, so that could open the door for even more potential storylines.

What would you like to see in a solo Batman movie?  And when would you like to see it?  Before ‘Justice League’?  Or after?
