While the heroes in ‘Warcraft‘ might be trying to unite the humans and Orcs, we all know that the two are warring races and this latest TV spot gives us a minute of the two sides preparing for war as well as some of the violence that will ensue. While I will give Duncan Jones and his team two thumbs up on being able to craft a good teaser, I’m still not sure how well this story is going to translate to the big screen. I’m sure many of you agree that it might be hard to get fully immersed into this world due to the CGI of the Orcs but at the same time, it almost has to be used to bring them to life.

Honestly with how little is on the horizon in the realm of fantasy, I do have high hopes for this one as a ‘Warcraft’ franchise (if done properly) could continue for years and include a multitude of spin-offs. From the initial RTS games to the behemoth that is ‘World of Warcraft’ there is plenty of source material to mine for stories and if this is well made and positively received at the box office, it truly could kick off a cinematic universe in its own right.

One can only hope.

From Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures comes Warcraft, an epic adventure of world-colliding conflict based on Blizzard Entertainment’s global phenomenon.

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Clocking in at just a minute and not being all new on the visuals could be a disappointment but I still have hopes that we’re going to get something good. Jones has proven he can take great concepts to the screen but this will be his biggest budget film to date and hopefully he’ll be able to deliver action along with his usually strong character driven narratives.
