Dylan-OBrien

‘Teen Wolf’ star Dylan O’Brien, 24 years-old,  is the focal star of the YA adaptation ‘Maze Runner’ movies and is currently shooting the third installment, ‘The Maze Runner: The Death Cure’ but was just severely injured while shooting a stunt for the movie.

A rep for the actor stated:

“He was in an accident and is being treated in a local hospital.”

The film is shooting in British Columbia, Canada, so the “local hospital” is somewhere  in that region.

20th Century Fox, the studio behind ‘The Maze Runner’ movies released the following statement:

“Dylan O’Brien was injured yesterday while filming ‘The Maze Runner: The Death Cure’ in Vancouver, Canada. He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment. Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers. Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery.”

Few details have emerged, but we do know that O’Brien was filming a stunt involving a car and something went wrong and the actor was run over!  He has suffered “several broken bones.”

The movie he was filming is the third in ‘The Maze Runner’ series, based on a YA novel by James Dashner.  The first ‘Maze Runner’ grossed $102 million domestically in 2014, while the sequel ‘The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ earned $82M in 2015.  ‘The Death Cure’ was slated for release on February 17, 2017, but this development may alter that.

O’Brien plays Thomas, the main character.  Wes Ball serves as director and has also directed the previous two films in the series.

Our thoughts are with Dylan O’Brien!  More news as it unfolds.
