wonder-woman

The movie may be entitled ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’, but it’s no secret that Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, plays a pretty important role in it as well.  But how large is her role?  Is she really integral or is she just tacked on to set up her solo movie?

‘The ‘BVS’ director, Zack Snyder assures that

“It was incredibly organic how Wonder Woman came into the story.  The whole concept came of, ‘Let’s not save anything. Let’s try it all.’ Then Wonder Woman’s entrance made us realize we were much closer to the Justice League than we thought. We realized we were one movie away.”

It may have been an “organic” process of deciding to include Wonder Woman in the film, but how does she tie into the story?  The answer may lie with the machinations of the film’s villain Lex Luthor, as portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg.

As Snyder teases:

“You learn pretty early on that Lex is interested in metahuman existence, and that there might be some relationship between that investigation and the appearance of Diana Prince.”

Luthor and Diana may have faced off– and teamed up– in the comics as part of the exploits of the Justice League, but beyond that, there has never been much of a connection between these two characters.  So it should be intriguing to see how Snyder and the movie’s writers Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer wove them together.

Of course, as we saw in the trailer, Luthor won’t be the only opponent the assembled heroes battle.  Snyder is also throwing in some brawn to balance Luthor’s brains, Doomsday!

Snyder discusses the reasoning behind incorporating this destructive behemoth:

“To go up against heroes like Batman and Superman, we wanted to introduce one of the DC Universe’s most iconic and powerful villains.  He is essentially an unstoppable force. He poses a real threat to the world within the film.”

Do these teases give you a better idea of what to expect from ‘Batman V Superman’?  Are you excited about seeing all these DC superstars in one movie?

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Jesse Eisenberg hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
