In a video game adaptation that could feasibly work, we’ve got the first shot of Michael Fassbender (‘Prometheus’,’X-Men: Days of Future Past’) on the ‘Assassin’s Creed‘ set as well as a few new nuggets of information on the film! We had previously seen Fassbender showing off what he’ll look like in costume as Callum Lynch and Aguilar, but this is the first time he’s been caught on set sporting the character’s signature look.

You can check out the first shots of him on set below!

These photos were snapped in Spain in an undisclosed location and they do all seem to have pulled off the feeling of being in the 15th century. It won’t be all set in the past though as Fassbender’s character is using technology to relive one of his ancestor’s lives. So how much will be set in the present? Well according to Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet:

“We told him we were going to build this project together. We have a huge brand and we want to make a film with references to feature films like Batman Begins and Blade Runner. He was promised that he could work with the writers, we would associate it with all key creative choices.”

So it sounds that at least some of what is set in the present will have some fun pop culture references. It wouldn’t surprise me if the film also had a cameo or two from other existing characters in the franchise as we’re mainly breaking new ground in the film with who is appearing. If successful, I bet we’d even see a video game tie-in down the line if one isn’t already in development.
