Last week, HBO released the first teaser for the upcoming sixth season of ‘Game of Thrones‘. However, rather than give us an inkling of what will happen when the acclaimed fantasy drama based on the works of George R.R. Martin returns in April, the brief 40-second video just showed quick glimpses of the most shocking moments of the series to date including the deaths of Ned Stark, Robb Stark, Jon Snow, and more. All that did was remind us that no one, not even the main characters of the show, are safe from death. But now, it appears that the first new footage has surfaced thanks to an end-of-year ad from HBO.

Over the weekend, the network debuted a new trailer on their Twitter to say thank you to their viewers for another amazing year that included a record-setting 43 Emmy Awards. They also wanted to tease the returns of some of their most popular shows such as ‘Silicon Valley’, ‘Veep’, ‘Girls’, and of course ‘Game of Thrones’. Amidst the footage from new and returning shows, there were a few seconds of new stuff from Westeros starting at about 2:15 squeezed in. Check it out in the tweet below:

If you happened to blink at all during those few seconds of new material, then you probably missed a few things like Daenerys Targaryen looking a bit disheveled, Ramsay Bolton standing tall in front of his family’s sigil, and Cersei Lannister hugging King Tommen. Although, one thing that you definitely didn’t see was Kit Harington as Jon Snow, who happens to be prominently featured in all the previously released promotional material for the season thus far.

Is this a move meant to throw us off? Could the other things have just been rubbing salt in our collective wounds? I wouldn’t put it past the showrunners to pull something like that. After all, we’re all gluttons for punishment to a certain degree if we’ve stuck with the show this long. Either way, fans are definitely still anxiously awaiting the first proper trailer for the new season.

Until then, let us know what you think about this new footage from ‘Game of Thrones’ Season Six in the comments.
