With ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ only a couple of weeks away we’re in the home stretch of marketing for the film and today’s latest is 6 brand new images! Not only that, but Harrison Ford (‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’,’Blade Runner’) has opened up a little on how working with J.J. Abrams has been like on what will most likely end up being the biggest blockbuster of the year.
With the film’s release being so close, everyone is having problems containing their excitement and each new detail and piece of imagery is bittersweet. On the one hand we all want to see more while on the other, we all want to be lost in the joy and surprise of an unspoiled movie.
Before getting into working with Abrams, one might wonder how Ford felt about reprising his role as Han Solo. There are a few ways to take this though it sounds like he really had fun not only revisiting the character but working on the movie in general:
“Clothes make the man. I could have felt silly, to be my age prancing around in high boots and a gun belt with a guy in the hair suit, but I didn’t. I love the work. I like playing different kinds of characters. What’s not to like? It’s no big f*cking deal. This is what I do.”
While we all know that Abrams insists that collaborating with the talent to make the lines work just right, Ford has jumped in saying exactly how perfect that part of working with Abrams has been.
“Nine times out of 10, J.J. was dead-on with it. “You know, it doesn’t feel right in your mouth, and you try a couple of other things, and then you say, ‘You know what? You’re right.’ And ‘Chewie, we’re home’ is manifestly better than ‘We’re home, Chewie,’ or a couple of the other options that I tried.”
With how important the film is for everyone involved it would be easy to not listen to input or crack under the pressure but Abrams not only had fun working with the cast but was making sure that everyone’s voice was heard. In fact according to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy:
“I’ve never seen him yell at anybody or lose his cool. [Abrams] is a fountain of ideas, nonstop. In fact, it usually exhausts everybody else around him. He’s endlessly curious, and he wants to try things, and then you finally have to say, ‘All right, we’re running out of time, you have to make a decision!'”
Though if the trailers are any indication I have a feeling that we’re all going to be glad that he’s been taking his time with this one.
For the new photos themselves you can check them out below!
Still looking good and thankfully nothing too much was teased here if you’ve been following all of the trailers that have been released.
