We found out a little over half a year ago that ‘Ouija 2‘ was happening and are finally finding out a few details about the film. Specifically, we’ve just learned that Mike Flanagan (‘Oculus‘,’Absentia’) will be both co-writing the screenplay as well as directing the film. Not only that, but Annalise Basso (‘Bedtime Stories’,’Standing Up’) who he worked with on ‘Oculus’ is going to be the leading lady for his film. This is quite the reunion at Blumhouse with all of these ex-Oculus cast announcements as Flanagan’s co-writer is Jeff Howard who was his writing partner on that film as well.

While it doesn’t appear that the film will be following any of the same cast, it does sound as if it will be the same Ouija board from the first film. My guess would be that  they are going to try and turn this into an anthology series which could work great if they pull this film off. It would also make it quite easy for the cast to change from one movie to the next.

While we don’t know much about the plot or Basso’s character in this one quite yet, it is clear that she will play a young girl who is trying to come to terms with the loss of her father. Chances are this will result in her use of the Ouija board to reach out to him. As we all can guess things from here on out will go terribly wrong and it won’t be her father that answers the call. If the first film is any indication, we’ll have demonic possessions in store for us before the film is done.

Are you looking forward to a sequel to ‘Ouija’ or is this one horror film that didn’t need to be turned into a franchise? Share your thoughts below!

‘Ouija 2’ is set to be called up to the big screen on October 21st, 2016.
