With set pictures surfacing yesterday, we can already see that Marvel and Netflix are already hard at work on the second season of ‘Daredevil’. Plus, in addition to hearing about a number of cast members making their return to the show, we’ve heard that Jon Bernthal will appear as The Punisher when the next chapter is available for streaming in 2016. But now another massive addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been revealed.

Marvel.com announced today that Elodie Yung has been cast as Elektra Natchios in the upcoming season of the Man Without Fear’s acclaimed series. According to Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb, the French-Cambodian actress and martial artist known for her roles in ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ and David Fincher’s ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ takes up the mantle previously held by Jennifer Garner in the 2003 film adaptation and it’s 2005 spinoff after looking far and wide for the right actress for the job:

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”

Keen-eared True Believers may remember a reference to the fan favorite character tied to Matt Murdock’s past in season one, but just as many have predicted, now we’ll finally get to see her in action. There’s currently no word on how big of a role Elektra will play in season two, but based on her long history with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen from the pages of Marvel Comics, there’s potentially a lot to look forward to when she makes her presence felt in the MCU.

What do you think about Elodie Yung being cast as Elektra in ‘Daredevil’? Do you think that she’ll mesh well with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock? Which storylines from the comics do you hope the show will adapt now that the deadly ninja assassin and her trademark twin sai are in play? Sound off in the comments below.
