Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool in his own movie is enough to get any True Believer to the theater. However, it wouldn’t be much of a movie if the Merc With A Mouth goofed off in front of a camera for 90 minutes. Sure, it would probably be hilarious, but it still wouldn’t be much of a movie. That’s why director Tim Miller and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have populated his world with other characters making the jump from the pages of Marvel Comics. And now we have our first look at one of those familiar faces.

Following a solo shot of our hero released yesterday, Empire has shared a new image from ‘Deadpool’ featuring Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Pictured alongside a suited up Deadpool, newcomer Brianna Hildebrand plays the young telepath created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly and named after a Monster Magnet track. In the photo below, you can see her and her trigger-happy compadre exiting a taxicab:

In addition to that first look at one of Deadpool’s companions, we have another still showing Wilson admiring his handy work. And for once we’re not talking about a trail of bloody carnage. Thanks to ComicBook.com, we can catch Wade checking out what appears to be the drawing we saw in the leaked test footage from last year. You can see it here, followed by the official synopsis of the film:

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Seeing Reynolds’ suit is still so surreal. The iconic red and black attire looks lifted straight from the comics. And with a hard R rating, I have no doubt that Deadpool’s attitude and antics will remain the same as well. But while we wait for some footage from the upcoming film, let us know what you think about the new pictures in the comment section.

‘Deadpool’ starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Gina Carano, and Ed Skrein hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
