“I am Vengeance! I am the night! I…AM… BATMAN!”.

The critically acclaimed ’Batman: The Animated Series’ aired it’s final episode nearly two decades ago, and while numerous new iterations of the character have surfaced since then, none of them are even remotely as highly regarded. For many fans, ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ (and it’s continuations through ’Batman Beyond’ and ’Justice League’) is the definitive take on the Batman character. But what made this particular version so iconic? Most people will tell you, it was all in his voice. The second you heard this voice, you knew exactly what you were in for from this show. Between the tone and the distinct art style, ’Batman The Animated Series’ redefined what a superhero cartoon could be, and showed people that cartoons weren‘t just for kids anymore. For nearly a quarter of a century, one voice has stood out as the definitive voice of ‘Batman’. and the voice belongs to actor Kevin Conroy!

Kevin Conroy has been lending his iconic voice to Batman off and on since ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ first hit the air way back in 1992. He has reprised the role for many subsequent series, as well as in several ‘Batman’ animated films, and most recently video games like the fan favorite ‘Batman: Arkham’ series, ’Injustice: Gods Among Us’, and ‘DC Universe Online‘! Conroy also recently voiced the role of Batman’s father, Thomas Wayne, in a recent direct-to-video animated film ‘Batman vs. Robin’.

Recently at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con 2015, we were lucky enough to talk to Kevin about his time as Batman and how it has affected his life during the last few decades. Check out the full exclusive interview below!

Kevin can be heard next voicing Batman in the upcoming ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ which releases in just a few weeks for most major home gaming consoles! Don’t forget to keep an eye out for him in Kevin Smith’s ‘Yoga Hosers’ which is in theaters this June!
