Within days of losing a director for ‘Wonder Woman,’ Warner Bros. has quickly found a replacement! According to THR, the highly anticipated film will be directed by Patty Jenkins.

The name should be familiar to Marvel fans as Jenkins was originally tapped to helm ‘Thor 2’ but due to creative differences, had walked away from that project only to be replaced by Alan Taylor. It shouldn’t be too much of an eyebrow raiser that Warner Bros. went with a female director and if all goes as planned, Jenkins will be the first female helmer to direct a big budget superhero film in the Warner Bros/DC universe.

While Jenkins does have roots in the TV arena (‘The Killing,’ ‘Betrayal’), it was her debut big screen indie film ‘Monster’ that put her on the map. The film earned Charlize Theron a Best Actress Oscar as well as a Best Screenplay Award for Jenkins from the Independent Spirit Awards.

Jenkins will be replacing Michelle MacLaren who left the project due to creative differences.
