Would you pay to be able to live forever? Many believe the body is just a vessel and if you could just transfer your consciousness, you can. That’s the premise of Ryan Reynolds’ new film ‘Self/less’ and we have the first trailer for the film to share!

Yesterday the offices of ScienceFiciton.com received a mystery phone from the folks from Phoenix Biogenic which instructed us to keep the phone nearby for an important message. We were intrigued as the phone contained several images of the Phoenix Biogenic labs. Well, today we received a text on that phone directed us to the trailer below.

While the premise of the film may seem familiar, the trailer does seem to show a rather interesting take on this trope: Damian, an extremely wealthy man played by Ben Kingsley (‘Iron Man 3,’ ‘Hugo,’ ‘Ender’s Game’), undergoes a radial medical procedure called “shedding” which transfers your consciousness into a biosynthetic body which looks like Ryan Reynolds (‘Deadpool,’ ‘R.I.P.D.,’ ‘Green Lantern’). All is not what it seems as Damian soon realizes there is more to his body and the organization he contracted with than he anticipated, and they are willing to do all that it takes to protect their secrets.

Self/less is directed by Tarsem Singh (‘Mirror, Mirror,’ ‘Immortals’) from a script written by David Pastor and Àlex Pastor and also stars Victor Garber, Matthew Goode, Derek Luke and Natalie Martinez.

The film is currently slated to be released sometime this summer and once we have the exact date, we’ll let you know!

In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below:
