Since the first trailer dropped backed in October, True Believers have been getting excited for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. Since then, we’ve seen a good amount of promotional material featuring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes including a second trailer, but now we finally have the first official poster for the upcoming Phase Two film from Joss Whedon.

Previously, we saw the teaser poster for ‘Age of Ultron’ that saw the Avengers’ logo get a mechanical upgrade. But earlier today, the official Avengers Twitter account revealed the first legit poster for the film in anticipation for the film’s May 1st release date. Take a look at all our favorite heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe assembled once again in the image below, but also notice that amidst the sea of Ultron drones are a also few new friends (or foes?) in the form of Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and the Vision as well:

Avengers Age of Ultron official poster

Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Everything seems to be in order here. Comparing this to the poster for ‘The Avengers’, I like that Captain America is more prominently featured, but we’re basically looking at the team surrounded by danger once again. What is interesting though is fine print in the credit roll that most people look past. If you look closely, you’ll notice that a few more familiar faces will be popping up this summer. In addition to Don Cheadle’s Col. James Rhodes (who appeared in the movie’s first trailer), it looks like we’ll be seeing Sam Wilson, Peggy Carter, Heimdall, and Dr. Erik Selvig as well because Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell, Idris Elba, and Stellan Skarsgard are all listed among the cast members. At this point, it’s unclear how large or small their roles will be, but it’s great to see that they’re all included.

What do you think about the first official poster for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’? Who are you most surprised to see returning for the follow up to Joss Whedon’s epic superhero blockbuster? Let us know in the comments.

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ starring Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlet Johannson, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Bettany, and James Spader assembles in theaters on May 1, 2015.
