With ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service‘ dropping today, director Matthew Vaughn has plenty to say about some of his upcoming work. Known for his amazing films such as ‘X-Men: First Class‘ and ‘Kick-Ass,’ we’re all eager to hear what he has up his sleeve next.

First up Vaughn was asked about ‘Kick-Ass 3’ and he hints that instead of moving forward, we might be moving into the past.

“Do you know what’s going to be next if I do it… we’ve finished plotting it. What we have to do is, we’ve got to do the ‘FIRST CLASS’ to the ‘KICK-ASS ‘world. We lost a few fans on ‘Kick-Ass 2.’ It wasn’t as loved as one would’ve hoped. So we have this idea for a ‘Hit Girl’ prequel. It’s a really strong, really simple prequel where I think we can regain the love and the passion. If that happens, I’m pretty sure I can persuade Aaron and Chloe to come back and finish the story of Kick-Ass with ‘Kick-Ass 3.'”

I’m okay with a film about ‘Hit Girl’ and her younger years. My only thought is that Chloe Moretz might be harder to bring back as she has previously stated that she didn’t think she’d be returning for that role:

“Sadly, I think I’m done with the character. Hit-Girl was a very cool character, but I don’t think there will be any more movies.”

Of course, she didn’t want to leave the character. It was just a thought that the series was at an end. So with ‘Hit Girl’ being the next film in the series, will ‘Kick-Ass 3’ even happen?

“Mark and I have already plotted Hit Girl. We have to get the script done next. It’s so far out there, you have no idea.”

Sounds like a film that we shouldn’t be holding our breaths for anytime soon. However if it does happen you can expect to see Vaughn in a different capacity for the film.

“No, I wouldn’t direct. We spoke about it to Gareth Evans a couple of years ago. I’d get someone like that, a really bold, clever director. Most of it is set in the far east.”
