With ‘Captain America: Civil War‘ set to be a big showdown between Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America it appears that Scarlett Johansson will be returning to reprise her role as the Black Widow as well. This is already turning into a star studded event with Anthony Mackie coming back as Falcon, Sebastian Stan reprising his role as the Winter Soldier, and Chadwick Boseman debuting as Black Panther. If the original comic story line is even vaguely used I suspect we’ll be seeing quite a few more heroes showing up as well, not to mention an actual villain or two!

In a recent interview in Beijing, the Russo brothers were asked about the third installment in the ‘Captain America’ movies and Anthony was quite open as to some of those that would be involved in the film.

We’ve been preparing for the movie since the one debuted last year, so we’ve been working on it for a long time now. We’re very happy how it’s coming along. Captain America 3 is gonna be called Captain America: Civil War, and it’s going to star Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier will be back, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film.”

With how well the two played off each other in the first film I’m sure that many fans will be happy to see Black Widow and Captain America at one another’s side again. It will also be interesting to note how a woman with a past she is trying to redeem herself from will handle working with the Winter Soldier in the film as he is a soldier turned villain attempting to basically follow in her footsteps.

Of course this does spoil the fact that she will be surviving ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ which might still be the first Marvel movie to kill off a major hero, the shortlist on who bites the big one is drastically getting shorter though.

The real question now is if she will follow Captain America or Iron Man’s lead in this film. You would suspect that she would side with Cap after they’ve worked so closely together but personal politics has gotten in the way of closer friendships.
