In a bold move by Mark Wahlberg, a man who seems to have a golden touch these days (as he was able to bring in a huge haul for ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ despite the critical panning it received), he will be rebooting ‘The 6 Million Dollar Man’ (now titled ‘The 6 Billion Dollar Man’ to adjust for inflation, duh). The news broke when old Marky Mark was being interviewed and he was asked whether or not he would ever be interested in playing a superhero.

“We’re talking about doing ‘Six Billion Dollar Man,’ which is very much a superhero, but I don’t have to wear any kind of spandex cape.  So that would be cool. Howard Gordon is writing the script and people are talking about doing it, but we got a great, great idea and it’s something that’s been in the pipeline for quite some time, so hopefully if we get the script right maybe we’ll make it after we do the’Deep Water Horizon.’ “

I feel like you gotta respect a guy who sees the superhero trend, wants in, but still wants to do it his way, with a character that he thinks is worthwhile, even if it doesn’t fit the idea of  a “superhero” people normally refer to these days. To pull off the epic recreation of the beloved 70s TV series (that had starred Lee Majors), Wahlberg is teaming up with his director from ‘Lone Survivor,’ Peter Berg, in the hopes the two can create another grand cinema adventure that won’t just feel like a retread of the source material.

Of course, the star has assured people that he would not begin work on ‘The 6 Billion Dollar Man’ until he finishes work on his next film, ‘Deep Water Horizon.’ What do we think of Wahlberg taking the reigns from Lee Majors? Feel free to comment below!
