Now that the Flash and his team have returned to Central City after an awesome two-night crossover event this week, Oliver Queen and his team have a massive undertaking waiting for them in the mid-season finale of ‘Arrow.’ About three months ago, we learned that Matt Nable of ‘Riddick’ and ‘Killer Elite’ would be joining the cast as Ra’s al Ghul, the treacherous leader of the League of Assassins that comes to his daughter’s aid when Sara’s killer still hasn’t been found yet. But what does the Emerald Archer’s mysterious foe have in store in the episode titled ‘The Climb’? Somehow I doubt that it’ll be a performance by Miley Cyrus, but we might have a clue here thanks to a few pictures from the episode.

In the past, we’ve seen a few notable versions of the iconic DC villain on the big and small screen such as David Warner in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’, Oded Fehr in ‘Young Justice’, Jason Isaacs in ‘Batman: Under the Red Hood’, and Liam Neeson in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. But now it’s Nable and the ‘Arrow’ crew’s turn to tackle one of Batman’s greatest foes as he goes toe to toe with Starling City’s own dark (green) protector. In the gallery below, check out the first images of Ra’s al Ghul in next week’s episode of ‘Arrow’ followed by the episode’s official synopsis:

“Nyssa returns to Starling City and tells Oliver that her father, Ra’s al Ghul has given Oliver 48 hours to find Sara’s killer or the League of Assassins will start killing the citizens of Starling City. Laurel is stunned when her father delivers a very special Christmas gift – her mother, Dinah. Meanwhile, Ray tries to make amends with Felicity and Oliver sets a meeting with Ra’s al Ghul.”

What do you think of these shots from the last ‘Arrow’ of 2014? Are you excited to see how Oliver fares against Ra’s al Ghul? Let us know in the comment section.

‘Arrow’ starring Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy, Colton Hayes, Willa Holland, and John Barrowman airs every Wednesday at 8:00pm on The CW.
