It looks like Namco Bandai will be bringing an enhanced version of From Software’s ‘Dark Souls II’ to PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC in the form of an new edition called ‘Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.’

According to Namco, ‘Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin’ will include new features, such as improved balance, new NPCs, expanded storyline, increased maximum amount of online player, new enemies and new item descriptions. On top of some graphical enhancements and refinements to its sound, all previously released DLC for the game (Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King and Crown of the Ivory King) will also be included in this edition as well.

‘Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin’ will also be getting a release on the older PS3, Xbox 360 and DirectX 9 PCs as a compilation version that includes the game and all of the previous DLC. It will obviously not be receiving any of the graphical enhancements exclusive to the current generation version. However, owners of this new edition and pre-existing copies of the original release of ‘Dark Souls II,’ will receive access to a large update that will feature a new NPC to seek out, new story events, new in-game events, also improved balance as well as online matchmaking functionality.

For those unaware, ‘Dark Souls II’ is a third person action RPG dungeon crawler game that throws players into the world of Drangleic, a kingdom that has fallen to ruin through the ages due to a raging war between humans and giants, the disappearance of the King and a plague that has been running rampant throughout the land. Much in the way of previous games, you play as an user-created protagonist, who must search Drangleic for a cure for a curse that causes the player to appear undead.

The original version of ‘Dark Souls II’ released back in March of this year for PS3 and Xbox 360 with a PC release that followed in April. As one of the newest games in the ‘Souls’ series, it was the first to be a numerical sequel (only in name) to a previous entry. The newest edition of ‘Dark Souls II’ looks to be coming out just after the newest ‘Souls’ series successor entitled ‘Bloodborne’ releases in late February.

‘Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin’ will release on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC on April 7, 2015. The large-scale update for pre-existing versions will also release on the same day.
