‘The Walking Dead’ developer Telltale Games has revealed the setting, the time-frame and characters in their upcoming episodic game series based on George R.R Martin’s ‘Game of Thrones.’

Telltales Games’ ‘Game of Thrones’ will be set in the universe of the HBO TV show version of the series after the third season. It will be putting players in the shoes of five different characters apart of the Forrester family, a Northern Wolfswood family aligned with House Glover that has sworn loyalty to the Starks. Steve Allison, Telltale Games’ Vice President of Marketing actually spoke more on this during an interview with International Business Times at the end of October:

“In ‘Game of Thrones’ we’re taking that multi-protagonist design even further with five playable characters from the same family whose choices affect everyone in the family, and that adds a whole new layer to things that we’re really excited about.”

The plot itself revolves around the family’s journey to King’s landing and The Wall as they try to help prevent the destruction of their family in the face of the War of the Five Kings. Despite the Forresters not having appeared in the show, they are a family that is very much mentioned in George R.R Martin’s ‘A Dance With Dragons.’

As opposed to being a five episode series like their previous projects ‘The Wolf Among Us’ and ‘The Walking Dead,’ Telltale Games will be upping the ante to six episodes for ‘Game of Thrones.’ The first episode has been announced to be called ‘Iron From Ice,’ named after the Forrester’s family motto which speaks on their resiliency living much like the Ironwood, a tree that only becomes stronger from the unforgiving landscape.

The first episode of the series does not have a release date just yet. However, Telltale Games promised on their blog that more details are forthcoming.

Telltale Games’ ‘Game of Thrones’ will be releasing on  PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows PC, Mac and iOS.
