‘The Walking Dead’ developer Telltale Games revealed that their ‘Fables’ series ‘The Wolf Among Us‘ will release in retail on PS4 and Xbox One alongside PS Vita and last generation consoles on November 4.
Originally released periodically as downloadable episodes, the upcoming disc-based retail version of ‘The Wolf Among Us’ will include all five of the game’s episodes.
‘The Wolf Among Us’ is a graphic adventure game that is a prequel to DC/Vertigo comic book series ‘Fables’ by Bill Willingham. For those unaware, ‘Fables’ is a series that focuses on the citizens of Fabletown, a secret community in modern-day Manhattan filled with figures of folklore and myth that had to leave their magical home in order to escape an enigmatic tyrant known as the Adversary. Forced to live out their lives in the best way they can, all non-human fables are made to mask their identities from humans, or “mundies,” by purchasing “glamours” that make them appear human. Those who cannot afford the spell are forced to be re-located to a rural community called “The Farm.” All who remain are left to struggle in a mundane world that they were never destined to settle.
Taking place in 1986, well before the events of the first issue of the comic, ‘The Wolf Among Us’ puts players in the role of reformed Bigby Wolf aka the Big Bag Wolf, the sheriff of Fabletown who is responsible for hiding the secret community from the world and enforcing its laws. However, when a fable is found murdered in cold blood, it becomes Bigby’s duty to figure out who did it and why.
The retail version of ‘The Wolf Among Us’ will release on PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 4. The game is already available for download digitally for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac and iOS.
