‘Metal Gear Solid’ series creator Hideo Kojima gave a plethora of announcements during Tokyo Game Show for ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’ that included a new story trailer, gameplay and even a final release date window.

Apart of the famous long running game franchise, ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’ is an open world stealth action title that continues where previous game ‘Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ left off. After being left for dead when a UN inspection goes wrong, Snake aka Big Boss falls into a coma for nine years only to wake up with his mercenary organization Militaires Sans Frontières (MSF) crumbled. Forced to rebuild and fueled by a strong yearning for vengeance, Snake ventures off to Afghanistan to track down the men responsible for the destruction of MSF. However, Snake’s efforts only prove to uncover a plot that threatens to be more dangerous than anything he has ever faced before.

The newest trailer of the game showcases previously revealed character Quiet as she jumps off from a flying helicopter only to land on the ground and interacts with Snake and his entourage. All of it is in Japanese but the basic idea is that Quiet is a hostile and Snake’s allies argue about whether they should kill her. However, Snake steps in and insists they keep her alive. The soldiers then comply and walk Quiet off to a prison cell.

From the brand new gameplay footage that was shown at TGS, ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’ looks to be showing off even more of its new open world gameplay with a large jungle environment to explore as well as a host of brand new game features and abilities to use. For example, Snake now has access to a variety of new sneaking suits, new weapons to use, the ability to use a backup sniper in the form of Quiet, the ability to rock climb and a whole lot more. We definitely encourage watching the 20 minute gameplay below to get the full scope of the brand new stuff being added into the game.

Similar to the way Kojima secretly announced the new ‘Silent Hills,’ ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’ was secretly announced during the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards. Simply labeled ‘The Phantom Pain,’ the game was teased as a brand new triple A IP made by an unknown Swedish studio called Moby Dick Studios. Up until that point, the only announcement of a new game in the ‘Metal Gear Solid’ series came in the form of ‘Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes,’ an apparent prologue to another new game in the series. However, as time progressed with one really over the top PR stunt and numerous fan theories running wild about what ‘The Phantom Pain’ truly was, it became clear the game was actually the newest entry in the ‘Metal Gear Solid’ franchise. Kojima later confirmed the fact during GDC 2013.

Kojima has confirmed that ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’ will be released sometime in 2015 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
