While fans won’t be seeing the footage featuring the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con any time soon, you can catch a glimpse of Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne on the set of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.’ Previously, we learned that Zack Snyder and the whole crew are currently shooting in Detroit. Thanks to some pictures of rubble in Metropolis, we saw that DC’s billionaire playboy would be making his presence known in Supes’ city. But now, we get to see the man himself in the flesh as new videos from the set have made their way onto the internet.
Comic Book Movie recently shared some videos from all corners of the web of Affleck arriving on set and running around a bit. The most notable thing about these videos is that the actor looks to be taking fashion tips from other superheroes such as Doctor Strange and Mister Fantastic since he’s sporting some gray hair around his temples. We’ve heard before that Snyder’s Batman would be slightly older than we’ve seen him in recent history, but now we actually get to see just how much older they’re going for. Another report from the site also shows what Batfleck was up to on this particular day on set. It looks like he and his body double were filming some sort of chase sequence. You can get a bit of a look thanks to a few more videos:
Finally, if you’re still weirded out by an older Caped Crusader running around in DC’s new cinematic universe, long-time Batman producer Michael Uslan assures us that Bruce Wayne isn’t as old as we had initially thought. In an interview with App.com where he addresses the criticism they’ve heard about the latest version of the character, Uslan reveals the hero’s actual age:
“We’ve been through this I don’t know how many times already. Every time a director makes a creative, out-of-the-box-thinking decision on casting, it tends to get this. I remember even the ‘Iron Man’ (2008) guys got it on Robert Downey Jr. initially. Of course, we got it intensely when another genius, Chris Nolan, chose Heath Ledger to play the Joker (in 2008’s ‘The Dark Knight’). And it was a huge outcry: ‘How can a guy who just played a gay cowboy (in 2005’s ‘Brokeback Mountain’) play the Joker? You’re going to destroy the greatest villain ever, this is going to be a laugh.’ So, this has happened time and again, and it happened with Affleck. To go back to the original thought of Bruce Wayne in his mid-40s, I think he’s going to be extraordinary.”
