If you weren’t watching ‘Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars’ on Disney XD last night, then you missed the premiere of the first 7 minutes of ‘Star Wars Rebels.‘ But don’t despair because we have it right here for you to see!

‘Star Wars Rebels’ is set 5 years before the events of ‘Star Wars IV: A New Hope’ and has been described as the origin story of the Rebel Alliance. Here, the Jedi are hiding and the Dark Side is permeating throughout the galaxy. The series will center on a ragtag group of heroes who are aboard the starship Ghost as they fight against the evil Empire that rose from the ashes of the Old Republic last seen on ‘Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith.’

In the preview clip below, we are introduced to con artist Erza who just happens to witness Kanan and his team in the process of stealing some special cargo from the Empire. He decides to cut in on the action for his own selfish reasons. What follows is a chase scene worthy of entertaining adults and kids alike!

Check it out below:

‘Star Wars Rebels’ was created by Simon Kinberg who has amassed several genre credits with his involvement in either writing or producing on such projects as the ‘X-Men’ franchise (he wrote ‘Days of Future Past’ ‘The Last Stand’ and is working on ‘Apocalypse’), ‘The Fantastic Four’, ‘Magic: The Gathering’ and is a creative consultant for ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ as well as tapped to write one of the spin off films. Overseeing the series is Dave Filoni whose work on ‘The Clone Wars’ (which won 2 Emmys) is considered a big plus for the series.

Another big plus is the voice cast for the show which includes Freddie Prinze Jr as Kanan Jarrus, Taylor Gray as Erza Bridger, Steve Blum as Zeb Orrelios, Vanessa Marshall as Hera Syndulla, Tira Sircar as Sabine Wren, David Oyelowo as Agent Kallus, Jason Isaac as The Inquisitor and James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and, of course, the team droid named Chopper.

So what do you think? While the series doesn’t have a release date yet, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will officially premiere sometime in October with an hour long episode on the Disney Channel before moving over to its permanent home on Disney XD.
