Unarguably one of the best parts of the film ‘12 Monkeys‘ is Brad Pitt’s character and it looks as if Syfy has finally recast him — as a her! Emily Hampshire (‘Snow Cake’,’Cosmopolis’) is set to take on the role of Jennifer Goines who is “a dangerous and unstable mental patient.” Also joining the cast is Tom Noonan (‘The House of the Devil’, ‘Heat’) who is going to be “the enigmatic face of the Army of the 12 Monkeys.”

While Jennifer will be mostly be just a distraction, according to press release “Noonan’s character will be at the center of the conspiracy” so I suspect that either he will be the actual cause of the virus or, much as Brad Pitt’s character was in the film, he will be the primary suspect.

They seem to be giving us a lot of details that seem to be ones that would be uncovered as the season goes forward and I’m wondering if this means the events of the movie will be done rather quickly and we’ll get an entirely new problem that Cold has to solve. Honestly, while Cole’s adventures from the film are the only points I was looking forward to seeing adapted, as they give us more information I’m kind of curious where they will creatively go to keep the audience interested.

Are you looking forward to Syfy’s take on ’12 Monkeys’? Do you think that they’ll be able to do the film justice, surpass it, or is this doomed for failure?
