Earlier this week we found out that Nathan Fillion (‘Firefly’, ‘Castle’) was making a cameo in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ . While that part is true, it seems that the rumor he may be voicing the psychic dog Cosmo was wrong. Talk about barking up the wrong tree!

The debunk actually comes from Fillion himself who was so sick of the rumors that he popped up on Twitter to let us all know that he would not be voicing the a Russian dog in the movie. Of course, he could just be messing with all of us or he could want to see if anyone is going to be guessing his actual role. While I wouldn’t put it past Fillion to play around with his fan base in good fun, I do suspect he is just confirming here that he really isn’t playing Cosmo.

Here’s his tweet:

So that leaves us still wondering who he will be. I could probably go on with a list of potential cosmic Marvel characters he could be but that is how we got into this mess in the first place.Since the word cameo was used here, there really is no basis that he will be playing a known Marvel character. He could just be a guy sitting at a bar that Peter Quill walks into. I’m back to being convinced he may just be sitting around in a brown coat if that happens.

Can I point out here that with Joss Whedon on ‘The Avengers‘ and James Gunn on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ that I am completely shocked that no one has given Fillion full character role yet? I mean, there are a ton of superheroes in the Marvel Universe that he’d be able to easily pull off. I’m just saying. Not just look wise, but the way he tends to act could fit really well with quite a few characters both cosmic and Earthbound.

So I’ll leave it to you faithful readers! Who do YOU think Fillion could be playing in the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie? Sound off in the comments true believers!

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ starring Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Benicio Del Toro, and Michael Rooker blasts off on August 1st, 2014.
