With early development for ‘Resident Evil 6‘ beginning over a year ago, we haven’t heard much about the film though we have news which changes that a little bit. The film was pushed back due to Anderson’s work on ‘Pompeii,’ but now that he has fully returned to the saddle, he’s starting to share more details about the film.

As previously rumored, this is still scheduled to be the final installment of the ‘Resident Evil’ series. At least the final installment that will have Milla Jovovich in as Alice and Anderson in the director’s chair. We may have heard this about previous films but as the working title is now known as ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,’ that sounds like they’ve finally decided to close the series that they started together in 2002:

“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is the working title. It may end up being the final title, but that’s what’s written on the front page of my script… I’m right in the middle of [the first draft].”

When asked specifically about the title hinting at the final movie in the series he stressed that “That’s what’s on the title page, it’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, so absolutely.”

With things moving forward on the script you might want to know when the film will be shot and released. Sorry to disappoint you there but, according to Anderson, there are no set dates for shooting yet:

“I think we’re waiting until we have a first draft screenplay and then go from there… I don’t know, depends how fast I write, I guess. There’s no set date yet but hopefully we’ll have an announcement for that soon.”

So we’ll be getting more details soon. It all depends on the writing at this point. While these are decent action films I really believe that the recent CGI releases have done a better job at putting us into the world established by the video games.

Are you looking forward to the next installment of ‘Resident Evil’ on the big screen? Are you glad to hear that it is finally coming to a close? Share your thoughts below!
