To date ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘ was my favorite film released this year and now we’ve got the Blu-ray release details which comes with a combination of awesome and horrible news. The good? Blu-ray details! The bad? No one-shot.

Yes, the new ‘Captain America’ home release will not be including a Marvel One-Shot as the previous films have.

That’s right.

As much as I look forward to the after credits scenes in the films, what I really have been enjoying is the one shots that give us more details on characters in the Marvel Universe. From the fake Mandarin to Agent Carter, the home releases have had a great additional reason to buy the films woth this vignettes tacked on. Ever since ‘Thor’ was released, we’ve had these to enjoy. That is, until ‘The Winter Soldier’ is released.

In an ideal world this is all because of a statement released by Marvel Executives in the past about how “they might bring a temporary halt to the One-Shots if they didn’t have a strong story idea or their full focus was needed on the feature film pipeline.” With ‘Ant-Man‘ suddenly off track with Edgar Wright no longer directing the film, it could very well be that they are just too preoccupied on keeping that project moving forward.

Hopefully this doesn’t become a trend for future film releases. So while there won’t be a one shot but what will we be getting? Well here are the details:

Digitally on August 19th and in disc format on September 9th, we’ll have a chance to pickup ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ which will include:

  • Making-of Featurettes
  • Audio Commentary
  • Never-Before-Seen Deletes Scenes
  • Bloopers
  • And More…

Sadly the above news confirms that the “and more” won’t be a one-shot.

Are you looking forward to picking up a copy of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’? Annoyed that there won’t be a one-shot this time around? Share your thoughts below true believers!
