HBO will wrap up its successful series ‘True Blood‘ with this seventh and final season.  The series debuted in 2008 to acclaim and huge ratings and is based on Charlaine Harris’ supernatural novel series.  The show kicked off with the revelation that vampires actually existed and were finally able to “come out of the closet” with the invention of True Blood, synthetic blood which was intended to allow vampires to stop feasting on living humans.  Over time, other supernatural elements crept in, including shape-shifters, werewolves and lead character Sookie Stackhouse discovering she was a fairy from another dimension.

In preparation for the final season, HBO has released promotional images of the central cast.  You can view them below:

Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin)

Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer)

Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley)

Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell)

Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello)

Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll)

Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis)

Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) and Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer)

And finally, a gathering of some of the major characters

Sorry no image of Eric!

Now just because the show is wrapping up, it  doesn’t mean it’s just a chance to wrap up storylines.  In fact, a brand new character has been added to the cast.  Will Yun Lee (‘The Wolverine‘) has joined the ensemble as Mister Gus, a Japanese businessman living in Texas, “whose bigger-than-life, urban cowboy demeanor nearly rivals the size of his large Stetsons. Gus is out for revenge and will stop at nothing to get it.”

Hmmm, revenge on whom?  In addition to ‘The Wolverine’ Lee has appeared in the ‘Red Dawn’ remake, the ‘Total Recall‘ remake, ‘Four Assassins’, ‘Lost For Words’ and the upcoming comedy ‘Spy’ starring Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Jude Law and Nia Long.

What do you think?  Will you be tuning in for the final season of ‘True Blood’?
