Thankfully we aren’t just getting promotional featurettes, trailers, and images from ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past‘ as they’ve come up with a great website that I’m happy to share with you. The concept? To show off 25 key moments where mutants affected American history. It’s a fun website and not quite as annoying as this annoying corporate tie-in in showing us off new content from the film.

The website itself shares the key moments in a timeline where some of the moments are things that we’ve seen, some are things we can assume, and some might fall into the spoiler category.

First up we have a certain moment during the Cuban Missle Crisis that might look a little familiar to fans of ‘X-Men: First Class’ as a certain man with a helmet is able to delay conflicts “during a pivotal moment in the Cold War, missiles launched near Cuba allegedly malfunction due to an unidentified group with unexplained powers.”

After that I’m going to skip forward to 1988 (which skips a few of the slides that might be spoilery for those not watching previews for this film) to see a certain birth that occurred: “The Chernobyl nuclear power plant melts down, causing a spike in premature mutant expressions for generations.”

Last I checked standard Marvel lore did have mutant abilities kicking in during the teenage years. Though I suppose this wouldn’t be the first piece of mutant lore that has been changed for the benefit of the cinematic universe. (That and a baby Colossus is pretty damn adorable if you ask me.)

Finally, skipping forward again we get to 2006 after the events in ‘X3’ where the mutants are working with mankind to help rebuilt a certain bridge that was destroyed. Need a refresher? It was from when “Worthington Labs introduces a vaccine that claims to eradicate the X-gene, leading to violent uprisings from mutant factions that resulted in the destruction of the Golden Gate Bridge. Recognizing the need to improve human-mutant relations, the President appoints Beast as ambassador to the UN.”

From this period on it flashes forward to the future that will lead to the base of this story line of why this movie occurs. Many of these points might be considered spoilers for those who don’t know what is coming and depending on how the story plays out on screen so read at your own risk!

You can check out the official site right here and after you check it out let us know your thoughts on it! Is this a better way to do online marketing than just basic promotional material? Share your thoughts below!
