This is sad news for many fans who like Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow “uniform” seen in the Marvel films so far. Apparently, she won’t really be in that catsuit for most of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Now that’s not to say that she’s going to be shedding most of her clothes as she does in ‘Under The Skin, but more that she’ll be wearing casual clothing or something that works for going undercover. Here’s what Johansson had to say about the outfit and a few hints on the film itself:

“I don’t spend a lot of time in my catsuit in this one. I take it to the streets in a different way. There’s a real kind of Big Brother aspect to this film. All that Cap and Widow know to be true, everything that they trust in – as much as they trust in anything – is sort of ripped out from underneath them in a way that we haven’t seen before. Everything is not as it seems. It’s not so black and white, it’s not so cut and dry, it’s not good versus evil. The stakes are much higher. It brings them closer together because they find themselves in a vulnerable situation and they’re in it together.”

While fans might miss the catsuit, it is going to give us another take on her character and hopefully one that not only accentuates the ogling of how she looks. She’s supposed to be one of the best spies in the world (which were hinted at by the techniques shown in ‘The Avengers‘), so I’m hoping they’ll play that angle and give us more.

Chances are this distancing from S.H.I.E.L.D. that she goes through combined with the events in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ where she has a huge part are going to lead into whatever happens in her stand alone film.

What do you think about Black Widow mostly wearing casual clothing this film? Most likely that means Captain America will be in the same setup. Do you think that works for a spy thriller or should they be pushing the comic agenda and keep them suited up as much as possible?

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders , Frank Grillo, Emily Van Camp, Hayley Atwell and Robert Redford. The film will be released in theaters on March 26th in the UK and on April 4 in the US.
