With Phase Two well under way and Phase Three already in sight on the horizon, Marvel Studios is making some big moves. In addition to being hard at work on films like ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, and ‘Ant-Man’, they’ve already set up two dates in 2016 and one in 2017 for the release of a few currently untitled films. Considering that these upcoming features require actors and actresses to inhabit the worlds that they’re creating in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s no surprise that we’re hearing a lot of chatter about who will play what in whatever the House of Ideas has in store next. For instance, word on the street says that whoever lands the lead in ‘Doctor Strange’ could be the new Robert Downey Jr. of the franchise. But since RDJ can’t be everybody, Marvel is most definitely talking to some of the biggest names out there right now and apparently one of them is Vin Diesel.

According to the actor’s Facebook page, the ‘Fast and the Furious’ star revealed that Marvel sought him out for a meeting. Here’s what the post said:

“Marvel has requested a meeting… no idea what for… haha, you probably know better than me…”

If this were a few months ago, I’d say that he was meeting about playing Drax the Destroyer in GOTG, but that role went to former WWE Champion Dave Bautista, so like Diesel, I have no idea what this meeting could be for. Some sites like Screenrant seem to think that he’s being called in for Thanos, Rocket Raccoon, or Groot, but I find that to be unlikely. I’ve even read that Luke Cage might be an option, but that’s really stretching it. Plus, I hear The Rock is eying up that role, so…

If I had to make a guess of who Vin Diesel could be in a Marvel movie, I’d pick Carl “Crusher” Creel AKA the Absorbing Man. Diesel certainly has the look to fit the former boxer turned Asgardian-level villain, but his main adversary, Thor, already has his next adventure in the can. It’s also possible that he could still be in talks for a smaller role in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ since there are a number of characters in that corner of the Marvel Universe that haven’t been claimed yet.

No matter what the actor is talking to Marvel about, if he ends up in a future film, then it can only mean good things for both parties if he’s placed in the right role. He’s certainly on the up and up these days thanks to the ‘Fast’ franchise and ‘Riddick’, so he wouldn’t be a bad actor to have on their roster.

Why do you think Vin Diesel is meeting with Marvel? If it’s movie related, who do you think he could play in a future Marvel movie? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below.
