When it was first announced that the second solo outing for the Star-Spangled Avenger would be titled ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, avid comic book readers knew that James “Bucky” Barnes would be making a comeback similar to the amazing run from the mind of Ed Brubaker. Production has been well under way on the film and we’ve already gotten a glimpse of Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, as well as Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson reprising their roles as Captain America and Black Widow. So it was only a matter of time until we saw Sebastian Stan as the titular character, the Winter Soldier, on set in all his glory. Now, the time for concept art is over and we have our first look at the mysterious character in the flesh.

A number of pictures have hit the web over the past few days from the Cleveland set of Marvel’s upcoming Phase Two film directed by Greendale Community College alums Anthony & Joe Russo that feature the former Bucky in his new mantle of the Winter Soldier. You can check out photos in the gallery below thanks to CBM and Cleveland.com:

First of all, the PA holding the sign asking for no pictures gets an A for effort. Secondly, while we already had a taste of what the character was to look like from the concept art, it’s still a bit weird seeing Winter Soldier look like James Franco’s New Goblin from the train wreck that was ‘Spider-Man 3’. I know that it’s unrealistic to go to a domino mask to hide one’s identity in modern movies, but I’m not too sure that I’m down with the paintball mask right now. However, the bionic arm looks great! There are even a few videos out there that show off what it can do. And lucky for you, I’ve embedded them below so you don’t have to go looking for them. The first video features a fight on a moving car and the second one shows off Bucky’s new strength:

Bucky/The Winter Soldier is one of my favorite characters and Sebastian Stan did a great job portraying him in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, so I’m really looking forward to seeing this film in theaters. But what about you? What are your thoughts on dangerous assassin’s portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Let us know what you’re thinking in the comments.

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Emily VanCamp hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
