About a month ago, ‘Kick-Ass’ star Aaron Johnson joined the cast of Gareth Edwards’ reboot of ‘Godzilla’ for Legendary Pictures that Frank Darabont is currently polishing up. Now, it appears that the director is adding more star power to his cast in the form of two of the hottest names in Hollywood right now.
According to Collider, ‘Breaking Bad’ star Bryan Cranston and ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ actress Elizabeth Olsen are in talks for the giant monster’s return to the big screen. It’s unclear who Olsen will play, but Cranston is said to play the stepfather to Johnson’s soldier character. Aside from appearing in one of the best shows on television, the actor has appeared in a bunch of great movies over the past year including ‘John Carter’, ‘Rock of Ages’, ‘Total Recall’, and ‘Argo’.
As for Olsen, while on the red carpet of the BAFTA awards, she confirmed her involvement in the film, which begins shooting in the spring. She also mentioned that this version of the classic movie monster would be a “very different take” on Godzilla. Thanks to Comic Book Movie, you can check out the confirmation in the video below:
Production for the film is set to begin on March 14th, so the official cast announcements should be coming any day now. ‘Godzilla’ is scheduled to hit theaters on May 16, 2014.
