Toy companies have a bad habit of spoiling some movies. Naturally, they want to promote the various figures or play sets that they’ll be selling once the movie comes out, but when they release previews of their upcoming lines, they end up giving away more than they should. Currently, one big victim of this is ‘Iron Man 3’.

Previously, Bleeding Cool reported that Lego revealed that an upcoming set would include “a pale green bad guy we were not allowed to know the name of”, which seemingly confirms the rumored inclusion of Radioactive Man in the film potentially played by Wang Xuequi. Now, Funko and their POP! line of vinyl figurines are the latest culprits to let details spill about the upcoming adventure for the Armored Avenger.

According to /Film, the latest Iron Man toys from Funko reveal a spoiler-filled image of a particular suit of armor that Tony Stark supposedly utilizes in the film. I repeat, this will probably be considered a big SPOILER, so proceed with caution.

Anyway, rather than to beat around the bush, check out the gallery below to see the various armors that are supposed to be in Shane Black’s upcoming film that kicks off Marvel Studios’ Phase Two:

We’ve already seen the Mark XLVII armor and the Iron Patriot armor, but this Deep Space armor is news to us! Speculation points to a connection to James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ to set up for ‘The Avengers 2’, but it could just mean that Tony has to go to space for some reason unrelated to either film. (Yeah right!)

Well, a couple of sources have practically confirmed this connection. First, in a more teasing capacity, Robert Downey Jr. himself had this to say to Entertainment Weekly about cameos in ‘Iron Man 3’:

“Everywhere you look now in every Marvel movie there are opportunities where certain new pals of [Tony’s] could be useful. So they’re in the atmosphere, so to speak, but I wouldn’t expect to see them on the ground in this one.”

Previously, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stated that The Avengers would not be featured in the movie, but he never said that Star-Lord and the Guardians wouldn’t be popping up.

Finally, Latino Review takes the more direct approach and flat out reveals that Stark will meet Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer, and company in space to propose a collaboration. Not only that, but they say that Iron Man will appear at the end of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ as well, likely in a post-credits scene. If this is the plan, it’s no wonder that Marvel Comics is currently sending Ol’ Shellhead to the outer reaches of the galaxy to do a tour of duty with the Guardians as part of Brian Michael Bendis’ upcoming Marvel NOW series.

What do you think about this little thing that ties all the big things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe together? Why do you think Iron Man will be seeking out the Guardians of the Galaxy after ‘Iron Man 3’? Share your theories in the comments below!

‘Iron Man 3’ starring Robert Downey, Jr., Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and Guy Pearce opens on May 3, 2013.
