Wang Xueqi

Shane Black’s ‘Iron Man 3’ has been in production for a little while now, but it seems like there’s been a last minute addition to the cast in the form of Wang Xueqi. According to Comic Book Movie, the veteran Chinese actor is replacing Andy Lau, who opted not to take the role of “a Chinese scientist who comes to the aid of his old buddy Tony Stark.” Old buddy, you say? Well, this new report might indicate something different.

Apparently, Xueqi is lined up to play Dr. Chen Lu, a scientist in the field of nuclear radiation whose experiments on himself turned him into Radioactive Man. The version of this character that I know is a member of the Masters of Evil and has teamed with The Mandarin, who will be played by Sir Ben Kingsley in the film, on a few occasions, so unless they’re changing the character, then I don’t think that he’ll be a “good buddy” to Tony Stark.

The report also says that there’s speculation that Chen Lu will play a part in the post-credits scene of ‘Iron Man 3’, which will set up for Edgar Wright’s ‘Ant-Man’. What?! I expected Ant-Man to battle Ultron, but this could be quite interesting if it’s proven to be true.

‘Iron Man 3’ starring Robert Downey, Jr., Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and Guy Pearce opens on May 3, 2013.
