After becoming one of the hottest actors in Hollywood over the past few years with movies like ‘(500) Days of Summer’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, ‘Inception’, and ‘Looper’, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is making his directorial debut at the Sundance Film Festival with ‘Don Jon’s Addiction’, a film that he also wrote that stars himself, Scarlett Johansson, Tony Danza, and Julianne Moore. While taking a break from this year’s festivities in Park City, JGL took some time to talk to the press, not only to promote his new movie showing at the festival, but also to talk about what’s next.

While sitting down with MTV, the actor expressed how excited he is to join the cast of ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’. Earlier this week, director Robert Rodriguez shared that JGL will play Johhny, “a very cocky gambler that comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game” in a story called ‘The Long Bad Night’. When talking about the role, Gordon-Levitt was like an uber fanboy:

“‘Sin City 2’ is going to be fun. I’m playing a quintessential Rodriguez badass. It’s going to be fun as hell.”

He goes on to address rumors going around the internet about what roles he’s landed, like the one about him in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, but especially the one about him donning the cape and cowl that he earned at the end of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, by saying that he’ll be the first to tell you when he’s jumped on board a project:

“I hadn’t heard that one. It just goes to show how much you can believe rumors. I don’t think you should believe in any of them. If there’s something I’m going to be in, I’m going to tell you about it. I put it on my Twitter that I was in ‘Sin City 2’, so TRUST me, I’ll tell you.”

To be fair though, if he was going to have a cameo in Zach Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ to set up for an appearance in ‘Justice League’, do you really think he’d give it away this far away from the game? That would be like Marvel giving away their post-credits scene at the end of ‘The Avengers’. That sort of thing is kept tightly under wraps. We likely won’t know anything solid until the movie hits theaters on June 14th.
