The Resident Evil franchise has been disappointing fans quite a bit recently. After two critically and commercially panned releases, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Resident Evil 6, many gamers were losing hope for the future of the franchise. However, there was one exceptional title that was generally overlooked — Resident Evil: Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS. Luckily, it is coming to consoles in May.

Resident Evil: Revelations takes place between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 as Jill Valentine and her partner Parker Luciani set off on a rescue mission to find Chris Redfield. The game is set on cruise ship filled with terrifying monsters and plenty of dark, narrow corridors to explore. The console version will feature upgraded HD graphics, online multiplayer, and new weapons to use in the co-op Raid Mode.

When the 3DS version launched back in February 2012, it was met with positive reviews from fans and critics alike, and currently holds an 82 rating on Metacritic. Many have praised the atmospheric setting and the game’s return to survival horror with clever puzzles and plenty of tense situations.

The upgraded version of Resident Evil: Revelations will be available for $50 on May 21 for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. Both the PS3 and PC versions will be available for digital download on day one. Check out the trailer below:
