Whovians won’t have to wait until Christmas Day to see the Doctor as he will once again be joining the annual BBC ‘Children in Need’ telethon airing this Friday, November 16th!

The telethon is an annual fundraising event organized by the BBC to raise money for grants devoted exclusively for charities that focus on disadvantaged youth and children in the UK. It has now become a tradition for the ‘Doctor Who’ series to be part of this annual event providing interstitial/mini episode which leading up to the Christmas special. Past segments include ‘Time Crash’ where the 10th Doctor met his past 5th Doctor self, a prequel to ‘Christmas Invasion’ of what happened right after the 9th Doctor regenerated into the 10th Doctor and last year’s trailer introduction of ‘The Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe” (which also happened to include a strip tease from the Doctor (Matt Smith)).

This year Whovians will be treated with both a prequel and the trailer for next month’s Christmas special! Around 7:30pm GMT, the prequel for the Christmas Special (which was written by Steven Moffat) will air which, according to the BBC, will feature a number of familiar faces. Then in the 8:30 – 9:00 pm GMT slot, the exclusive trailer which will give Whovians a first look of new companion, Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman) will be shown!

Those of us across the pond who don’t get the BBC will have to wait… but not for long because once they become available online, we’ll have it here for you to see! In the meantime, the BBC released this photo of the Doctor in his new Christmas outfit – looks like he kept the bow tie!

So mark your calendars, fellow Whovians, and check back here on Friday for the premiere of the prequel and trailer for the Christmas Special of ‘Doctor Who!’
