Many have been wondering about the ‘Twilight Zone’ movie which has been pretty much shrouded in mystery except for the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company will be producing the film and that it would consist of a single tale (unlike the original movie attempt). Now, the plot of the film has emerged and part of the mystery has been solved.

The project has hit several roadblocks since the rights have been optioned in 2008. The script itself underwent several rewrites with Jason Rothenberg (‘The Red Star’) and Tony Peckham (‘Sherlock Holmes,’ ‘Jack Ryan’) taking a shot at it with the latest revision scribed by Joby Harold (‘All You Need is Kill’). At one point, it looked like the project was going to soon be in front of the cameras when Matt Reeves (‘Cloverfield,’ ‘Let me In’) was hired to helm the film but ended up passing to direct ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ instead.

At least now fans who have been waiting for the film to materialize can have an idea what the ‘Twilight Zone’ movie will be about. According to Vulture, the film follows “a test pilot who winds up breaking the speed of light; when he puts down his craft, he discovers that he’s landed a bit late for supper – 96 years late.”

The description is very ‘Twilight Zone’ material – after all, time travel and space has been used a lot in the original series. Not too sure if audiences will sit and watch a two hour long episode, but with DiCaprio’s company assuring that the film will “feature elements from the ‘Twilight Zone,’” the project does sound promising.

Warner Bros is currently looking for a new director to helm the project so hopefully it won’t be too long before the project actually gets made.
