Just when you thought it was safe to return to movie theaters, the producers of the ‘Paranormal Activity’ franchise have just been given the green light to go forward with ‘Paranormal Activity 5.’ While that may not be too surprising, what is more interesting is that Paramount is also developing a Latino spinoff of everyone’s favorite found footage horror flick.

The yet untitled spin off will have Christopher Landon (son of the famed late Hollywood actor, Michael Landon) in the director’s seat. Landon has quite a bit of experience with the franchise as he wrote the screenplays for the second through fourth installments of the ‘Paranormal Activity’ franchise. He’s also known for writing the spec script for the film ‘Distrubia.’

The Latino version of ‘Paranormal Activity’ is said to be aimed at one of the biggest supporters of the franchise, Latinos – especially those in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.  It will include the same demon audiences are already familiar with and revolve around the horrors of the Catholic Church. Most of the actors featured in the film will be Latino and the movie will be filmed partly in Spanish but mostly in English. In fact, Paramount had already placed a teaser clip after the end credits of ‘Paranormal Activity 4’ for the spin off which has already begun production. If you didn’t stick around to see the clip, we have it for you below.

‘Paranormal Activity 4’ opened in theaters on Friday, October 19, at the number one spot earning $30.2 million domestically and $26.5 million internationally in 33 territories. Considering the budget for the movie was a “measly” $5 million to make, it’s no wonder a 5th installment and an international version is in the works.

Expect to see ‘Paranormal Activity 5’ released around Halloween next year with the Latino version released in the Spring of 2013.
