Jim Carrey as Kick-Ass with Conan O’Brien

Jeff Wadlow’s ‘Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall’ has been assembling it’s cast as of late. With the additions of John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Robert Emms, and Morris Chestnut to the returning cast of Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Nicolas Cage, the cast is already pretty well rounded in terms of star power. Now, Universal is in talks with another big name for a “showy supporting role”.

According to Deadline, funnyman Jim Carrey, who is no stranger to the world of capes and cowls (as some people choose to forget),  is being courted for the role of The Colonel in the sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.’s fan favorite comic book series. “The Colonel” is more than likely Colonel Stars, an ex-mafia lackey turned vigilante and the leader of the superhero team Justice Forever, which features Lieutenant Stripes, Insect Man (played by Emms), Doctor Gravity (played by Faison), and others.

It’s well documented that the ‘In Living Color’ alumni is a fan of Vaughn’s work and Kick-ass, but it would likely take a lot more than an appreciation for the material to get the actor locked into the role. Hopefully things work out and we get to see Carrey don the mantle of Colonel Stars because that seems like it would be quite an interesting and entertaining choice for the role.

‘Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall’, which follows Kick-Ass and his companions taking on the supervillain group assembled by The Mother Fucker (formerly known as Red Mist), is scheduled to hit theaters on June 28, 2013.
