This issue Spidey teams up with the new Captain Marvel (formerly Ms. Marvel). The story begins simply with Peter Parker catching a ride with his pal Carol Danvers (aka Capt. Marvel). Carol has just purchased a new airplane for herself and has volunteered to give Peter a flight.

After some slightly funny banter about playing truth or dare in a plane, a random girl wearing a rocket pack nearly hits the plane. Peter and Carol quickly change into their superhero identities and Spidey saves the rocket girl… and then someone starts shooting missiles at their plane!

It would be spoilers to tell you the identity of the rocket girl (although I’m not exactly sure that even she knows who she is) or why she’s being fired upon. What I will tell you is that this issue is a fun romp with some hilarious dialog. Actually, it reminds me a little bit of the team up with She-Hulk in ‘Avenging Spider-Man’ #7 except that I like Captain Marvel better than She-Hulk. Also, I like this new rocket girl character better than both. I really hope she sticks around in the Spider-Man universe.

Aside from a fun adventure tale, we also get some amazing artwork from Terry Dodson (‘Defenders’), an illustrator who is very well known for his pinup style artwork. It’s fitting with this issue since Dodson is great at drawing female characters and two of the three main stars this issue are ladies… well… at least they’re of the female persuasion.

It’s a great and fun read and well worth picking up! After the cliffhanger ending, I can’t wait to see where this one goes next month.
