Fans have demanded it for years, and after the success of ‘The Avengers’, it was only a matter of time until we saw Batman and Superman team up on the silver screen. However, this isn’t exactly what we were thinking.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of ‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’ and ’21 Jump Street’, along with ‘Robot Chicken’ director Chris McKay, are building a Lego movie for WB (See what I did there?) titled ‘Lego: The Piece of Resistance’ and it seems that the Lego versions of the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader will appear in this mix of live-action and animation. Here’s what Variety (via /Film) has to say about the main character, played by Chris Pratt of ‘Parks and Recreation’:

Emmet, an ordinary, law-abiding, rules-following, perfectly average Lego mini-figure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary Master Builder. He’s drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together, a journey for which he is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

But what roles will the DC superheroes play in this movie? According to Lord and Miller, there are many worlds in this film that Emmet will have to go through. I imagine that one world is filled with the DC heroes.

Lego Batman and Superman

Oh! And the best part of all of this is who will be lending their voices to Batman and Superman. The report says that Will Arnett of ‘Arrested Development’ has signed on to voice The Dark Knight and Channing Tatum is in talks to voice Supes. Tatum has a full workload coming up with reshoots of ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ and more, but hopefully he can find some time to be a part of this. As for Arnett, I never thought I’d ever see his name associated with Batman, but I think that I’m okay with it, especially if the movie is along the lines of the ‘Lego Batman’ games in terms of comedy.

‘Lego: The Piece of Resistance’ hits theaters in 3D on February 28th, 2014.
