As soon as the first ‘Sin City’ film hit theaters back in 2005, directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller started talking about the inevitable sequel. Since then, every time the movie is brought up, Rodriguez keeps saying that it’s “coming soon” or “in the works”. As of last August, Rodriguez said that Miller was working on the script.

Then last month, Deadline reported that the script was done and the film was ready to begin actual production. Shortly afterward, several of the stars of the first ‘Sin City’ (including Mickey Rourke, Michael Madsen, and Rosario Dawson) announced that they were back on board for the sequel.

Now, via Deadline again, we have a release date for the film. The movie, now titled ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ will hit US theaters on October 4, 2013. This time around, the movie will again be co-directed by Rodriguez and Miller and, in addition to the stars already announced, Jessica Alba is reported to be returning to her role as Nancy Callahan, the stripper with a heart of gold.

As with all of his other films, ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ will be produced by Rodriguez’ Troublemaker Studios and it will be distributed by Dimension films.

But, as official as all of this sounds, with the track record Rodriguez and Miller have had in getting this film underway, I’m still kind of feeling like I’ll believe it when I’m sitting in the theater with the end credits rolling.
