This week, all the comic-centric movie news is centering around the upcoming ‘Avengers’ and the recently released trailer for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. But, coming in under the radar is Sony Picture’s reboot of the Spider-Man franchise.
Word is that the latest trailer for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ will be tagged onto ‘The Avengers’. And today, a couple of new still screenshots from the film surfaced on the web along with a new poster.
The first image shows a battered Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) standing in a lab. From the lizard skeleton on the wall and some genetic looking images on the computer screens, I think it’s safe to assume that the lab in question belongs to Dr. Curt Connors (aka The Lizard).
The second shows Spider-Man handcuffed and at the mercy of the NYPD. I expect Spidey will perform some trademark acrobatics to get out of this predicament. At least, I sure hope so.
Finally, we get the latest theatrical poster showing Spidey swinging high above New York City and I already want this one for my collection!
So, while you’re enjoying ‘The Avengers’ this weekend or oogling over Bane and the fallen Batman in ‘Dark Knight Rises’, don’t forget your friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. Because, say what you will… this is going to be the superhero movie of the summer!
‘Amazing Spider-Man’ is directed by Marc Webb, stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and Dennis Leary. It swings into theaters in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D on July 3, 2012.
